Woodlawn Theatre strives to provide top quality youth programs designed to enrich, entertain and enlighten your child. As many of us know, theatre and music education are highly beneficial to kids and young adults, the rewards of which can be grouped into four categories:

The following article contains additional information on the benefits of arts education for youth:

Woodlawn Academy for the Performing Arts

The Woodlawn Theatre is ushering in a new generation of theatrical talent. There are young singers, dancers, and actors all portraying the role of a child/teen by day while potentially becoming the “next Selina Gomez or Justin Bieber” of their generation by night. The Woodlawn Academy for the Performing Arts is giving kids of all ages and skill level the opportunity to learn about the performing arts, while building confidence and self-esteem, and ultimately the opportunity to shine on stage.

These young actors have the opportunity to be a part of a real theatre production from start to finish. They start off like any Broadway performer would; auditioning for their part, getting their script, memorizing lines, learning choreography and vocals. Following 2-3 months of weekly rehearsals, it is then time for costumes, makeup, lighting, set design, and dress rehearsals. It all culminates with the renowned  phrase: Lights, Camera, Action! And voila, a top-quality production is born!

The Woodlawn Theatre directors and teachers strive to “create a haven for kids to feel important and boost their self-confidence.” We want each child to have an opportunity to grow as a “young actor” even if they don’t have a lead part. This is why we strive to find only the best instructors who are experienced with children of all skill levels. “Every child deserves to shine, and every child deserves one-on-one attention, whether they are a lead role or a chorus member”.

WE CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF YOUR CHILD!

All Woodlawn Theatre employees that work with children and teens are required to undergo appropriate background checks through IntegraScan’s Youth Organization Division.
